APS Bank is proud to support the exhibition ‘Through the Eye of the Needle’, by the talented artist Stefan Spiteri, at the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta.
This exhibition presents a collection of suspended, large-scale textile pieces, each intricately woven to explore the profound depths beneath the surface. The artist views weaving as a pact-making endeavour, symbolising the fusion of two distinct bodies of work, transcending their individual capabilities to create something greater than the sum of their parts. Sewing solidifies this pact, as the needle binds and transforms each material, introducing an external element to uphold its integrity. Through the eye of the needle, a different perspective of the world emerges.
The exhibition features Stefan Spiteri’s latest work, including an installation created by his mother, Speranza Spiteri, and sound installation by Chris Galea.
Jeremy Vassallo, CSR Manager at APS Bank commented, “The artists ability to explore the interconnectedness of art, nature, and social consciousness through vibrant, contemporary tapestries is remarkable. We are honoured to support a thought-provoking exhibition, which also seeks to actively engage the community, through learning and creative expression.”
The exhibition is open to the public at the Art Galleries of the Malta Society of Arts, Palazzo de La Salle, 219, Republic Street, Valletta until Thursday 29 February 2024. More information is available on stefanspiteri.com/portfolio-item/through-the-eye-of-the-needle
