Archpriest Rev Fr Anton Cassar and Jeremy Vassallo (CSR Manager, APS Bank)
APS Bank’s financial support was instrumental for the restoration work undertaken on the main dome of the Immaculate Conception Collegiate Parish Church of Cospicua. Executed by Zappettini Restoration Ltd after a rigorous selection process by tender, the project commenced in December 2021 and was concluded recently, marking a significant achievement in preserving this architectural gem.
The restoration encompassed a comprehensive array of activities, including the precise application of pointing to lime-based materials, the removal of any compromised cement or render, and the meticulous replacement of select masonry blocks in adherence to the highest industry standards. An essential aspect of the project involved dressing stone surfaces to seamlessly blend with the surrounding stonework, showcasing a meticulous attention to detail.
Visiting the completed project, Jeremy Vassallo, CSR Manager, said, “The Bank’s commitment to preserving Malta’s historically significant art and architecture stands as a cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The restoration of this 17th century church embodies our dedication to safeguarding our heritage for generations to come.”
