APS Bank has been supporting the Malta Dementia Society (MDS) in running its monthly Dementia Café sessions, at the Hilltop Gardens in Naxxar. The initiative offers themed social group meetings for people with dementia, who are living in the community, along with their relatives or carers.
Each session is led by a trained psychotherapist or occupational therapist and provides a welcoming space for participants to connect, share experiences, and enjoy two hours of social activities in a relaxed setting. Light refreshments and activity materials are also provided.
The Dementia Café aims to reduce isolation and stress, while giving carers the chance to speak with others experiencing similar circumstances. By encouraging conversation and engagement, the sessions help build a sense of community and support.
Jeremy Vassallo, CSR Manager at APS Bank, said: “The Dementia Café is a simple but meaningful way to support individuals and families dealing with dementia. We are glad to play a part in helping to create these safe, supportive spaces that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
This partnership is part of APS Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting community wellbeing. To learn more or take part in this initiative, please visit: maltadementiasociety.org.mt/about/mds-dementia-cafe.
