APS Bank backs inclusive rowing initiative

APS Bank is proud to support Siġġiewi Rowing Club in its mission to make rowing an inclusive sport for all. Through the Bank’s CSR Programme, the Club acquired a coastal rowing quad, Égalité, designed to navigate Malta’s coastal waters safely while promoting equity and teamwork.

Égalité, the Club’s first coxed sculling boat, allows rowers of diverse physical builds, genders, and backgrounds to participate equally. Sculling – where each rower uses two oars – naturally balances differences and encourages collaboration. APS Bank’s contribution aligns with its commitment to community development and social inclusion.

Égalité’s name, meaning equality, mirrors its purpose. Built in 2008, the boat has a celebrated history, competing across Europe before becoming a symbol of unity for the Siġġiewi Rowing Club.

Siġġiewi Rowing Club praised the Bank’s support for taking a significant step towards making rowing accessible to everyone to promote collaboration and teamwork between genders and athletes of various abilities.

Jeremy Vassallo, APS Bank’s CSR Manager, said: “Our support for Siġġiewi Rowing Club reflects APS Bank’s core values of fostering inclusion and improving well-being. This initiative brings people of different abilities together through the power of sport.”
