Inclusive language serves as an effective tool to eliminate bias and prejudice, while celebrating diversity. Its purpose is to ensure that communication, regardless of its format, does not marginalise or exclude any groups. Instead, it actively promotes and celebrates diversity, fostering respect for every individual, irrespective of their backgrounds or identities.
APS Bank recently launched an Inclusive Language Policy, as part of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy of the Corporate Culture Change Management Unit. The objective is to guide colleagues in becoming more mindful and intentional in their use of language, towards further cultivating an environment that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.
Susan Vella, Corporate Culture Change Manager at APS Bank stated, “We are immensely proud to have presented this policy. Over the past weeks, we have conducted training explaining the crucial role that language plays in creating an environment where diversity not only exists but flourishes. With inclusiveness as one of our corporate values, the Bank warmly embraces diversity and firmly believes that the greater our differences, the more pertinent and innovative our solutions become for our customers.”
