APS Bank supported Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna’s latest publication, ‘L-Għanja ta’ Ħabib’, a compendium of over 120 poems, including autobiographical pieces that delve into his youth, dreams, and the challenges of adolescence. The book also explores his deep love for the Maltese countryside, cultural heritage, and the simple faith of our ancestors.
The book launch, held at the Archbishop’s Palace in Mdina consisted of a soirée which included a recital of selected poems by Dr Philip Farrugia Randon, accompanied by musical interludes by Jacob Portelli on the harp and a message from Archbishop Scicluna himself.
The Bank also supported the ‘Shema – Lejl Imdawwal’ at Victoria, Gozo. The event, organised by the Diocese of Gozo in the style of a ‘Notte Bianca’, aimed to spread the Word of God and featured diverse activities, including an interactive exhibition at the Curia’s basement. Throughout May, the exhibition showcased original manuscripts of translations by Msgr Pietru Pawl Saydon and the Maltese Bible Association, offering a unique experience to visitors.
The event also included musical concerts, outdoor exhibitions by local artists, biblical-themed food stalls, and activities for children across various locations in Victoria. Visitors were guided by a map to explore different attractions and gain insights into the content and message of the Holy Scriptures.
Rachael Blackburn, Head of Culture at APS Bank, commented, “We are grateful the Bank had the opportunity to support both these projects, as we continuously support for initiatives organised by the Archdiocese of Malta and the Diocese of Gozo. This ongoing support demonstrates the Bank’s commitment to engaging the community in meaningful ways.”
