The first event of the Malta Sustainability Forum (MSF) 2025 tackled Malta’s Climate Challenge, bringing together leading experts to discuss the critical threats posed by climate change. The session focused on rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and water scarcity, while exploring strategies for resilience and adaptation.

During the event, speakers highlighted the key climate challenges Malta is experiencing including rising temperatures, increased water scarcity, and vulnerability to coastal erosion due to sea level rise. Extreme weather events are also expected to become more frequent and intense, affecting infrastructure, agriculture, and everyday life.

Liana DeBattista, Chief Strategy Officer at APS Bank, stated: “Climate change is no longer a distant threat – it is already impacting our daily lives. Through initiatives like MSF, we aim to raise awareness and drive action, equipping our community with the knowledge and tools to build a more resilient future.”

Organised by APS Bank, MSF aims to empower citizens to make informed decisions towards a more sustainable future. Since its inception in 2019, the Forum has explored a wide range of sustainability topics, from financial security to environmental challenges, underlining APS Bank’s commitment to sustainability as a core pillar of its CSR Programme.
